AP Precalculus can suit students who enjoy math and are ready to build a strong foundation for calculus and STEM study. At Sacramento Adventist Academy, a private Pre-K through 12 Christian school in Carmichael, California, the AP program is open enrollment and recognized at the Platinum level. Classes are small, with about 10 students per teacher, and SAA offers eight AP courses across math, science, history, and English.
AP Precalculus is a college-level course that helps students connect mathematical ideas and prepare for calculus and other advanced STEM courses. Students study polynomial and rational functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, and trigonometric and polar functions. The course also introduces parametric equations, vectors, and matrices.
Students use these concepts to solve problems, analyze data, and build mathematical models. Applications can draw on areas such as finance, physics, engineering, economics, and data science.
