Restoring Legacy and Building the Future: A Thank-You to Our SAA Donors

If you’ve walked across campus lately, you’ve probably noticed some great new improvements. The preschool playground has a new permanent shade structure that keeps kids cool during playtime. The middle school has a brand-new roof and working heat and air. These are big upgrades, and they were made possible by the generosity of SAA donors and volunteers who love this school.

These projects take care of a place that’s shaped generations of students. Upgrades like these make daily life at SAA safe, welcoming, and purposeful.

A Collective Effort

Former School Board Chairman Jaymes Cheney (2022–2025) recalls how it all came together:

“It started with a vision from the board, complemented by a detailed plan from our administration and leadership. Then, members of our community stepped forward—some suggesting donor dinners, others giving quietly of their time or resources. Each played a part in making these dreams a reality.”

The heart behind these projects has always been clear: to make this campus a place that reflects our mission and faith. Every new roof, shade structure, and classroom upgrade is part of that larger story.

Preserving a Legacy Building

For Principal Matthew Jakobsons, the middle school roof project is especially meaningful.

“This building is one of the original five structures on our campus. It once served as the Academy itself and has blessed thousands of students over the decades. We chose this project not only because it needed to be done but because it preserves that legacy for generations to come.”

That building now stands strong again, ready for decades of learning. It’s safe, dry, and comfortable, with heating and cooling systems that finally make it usable all year long.  Sure, it still needs more work but now all future work is safe from the elements.

Vice-Principal Stephanie Ferguson couldn’t be happier about the difference.

“For years we’d worry during storms, wondering if classrooms would leak or if the windows would hold. Now we can finally focus on teaching instead of tarps. Our lobby and hallways are warm in winter, cool in summer, and ready for students to enjoy.”

Honoring God Through Stewardship

When Cheney stepped into the role of board chair, he said one question guided everything:

“How do we honor God through all aspects of our organization—our buildings, our programs, our spiritual life, and academics?”

That question still guides the work today. The goal isn’t just to fix things. It’s to create a place where every lesson, classroom, roof, or hallway points back to our purpose as a Christ-centered school.

Thank-You

To everyone who gave of their time, money, or energy, thank you. You’ve made it possible for students and staff to work, play, and worship in a space that reflects the care and excellence our community is known for.

Your partnership keeps this mission alive. Because of you, SAA donors continue to shape a campus where faith and learning thrive together.

As we look ahead to future projects and continued improvements, your support reminds us what can happen when this community pulls together with a shared goal.
