Career Day brought ten professionals straight into our high school hallways this year. One hundred fifty-one students rotated through three sessions each, and the questions they asked were genuinely impressive—grounded in what they’re learning in class and focused on what actually matters when choosing a career path.
The goal is straightforward: give students real access to real careers.
Each presenter brought something different to the table—videos, slides, tools from their field, stories about how they got where they are. Students responded with questions about education timelines, job requirements, and what the day-to-day actually looks like. They were usually specific, informed, and showed that the academics here are translating into real-world thinking.
This year’s lineup covered a lot of ground: speech language pathology, IT consulting, electrical work and trades, veterinary medicine, dentistry, real estate, UX design, therapy and social work, PR and social media, and senior living leadership.
Students took the sessions seriously. Some walked away interested in fields they’d never considered. Others felt more confident about plans they already had. Either way, the common thread was clarity—students left with a better sense of what’s required and what comes next.
A few reactions from students summed it up well:
“I saw how my classes link to real work.” – 11th Grader
“I walked out with new options to think about.” – 9th Grader
“It helped me see what to focus on right now.” – 10th Grader
Having alumni in the mix made a real difference too. Hearing from people who sat in these same classrooms helped students connect the dots between what they’re doing now and where it can lead. Alumni talked about how study habits, writing practice, and STEM skills at SAA shaped their college years and professional lives. That connection between this campus and real outcomes? Students could actually see it.
Career Day highlights something important about our high school program: academics supports real life long achievement. Students practice critical thinking, ask informed questions, and build relationships with professionals who took time to invest in them. That’s the kind of preparation we expect from a strong high school.
We’re grateful for your time, your insight, and your willingness to share your story with our students.
