We found a DVD from the 2006 SAA High School Music Tour—a full video documentary shot and edited by Ted, husband of longtime choir director Dr. Bev. So, of course, we had to digitize it and share it with all of you. 20 years ago (it really shouldn’t be that long ago) SAA toured San Diego.
Three full buses of students, staff, chaperones, food crew, and musicians traveling together to San Diego. The video captures more than just performances. It shows what SAA’s music program has long stood for: excellence, joy, teamwork, and memories that last far beyond graduation.

This wasn’t your average field trip. In 2006, the entire high school got on three full buses and headed south. There were instrument cases, travel coolers, color-coded chaperone groups, early morning devotions, and late-night laughter in hotel hallways.
The directors—Dr. Bev and Miss Nina—ran a tight and loving ship. Their vision brought together music, faith, and friendship on a level that left a permanent mark on everyone involved.
Each group of students was assigned to a specific staff member or volunteer, creating a small family inside the bigger travel unit. These chaperone groups ate together, explored the San Diego Zoo, and shared some unforgettable moments on the Hornblower Cruise, a scenic boat tour of the San Diego harbor.
Under the leadership of Dr. Bev and Miss Nina, students performed throughout the trip, sharing music with communities and audiences all along the way. But just as important as the music was the togetherness—an entire high school traveling as one community, blending structure and spontaneity, performance and play.
This wasn’t just about where we went. It was about who we were becoming.
And it was all captured on film.
This year, we honor the Class of 2006—a group that played a central role in this tour. You’ll see familiar faces. Maybe even yourself, if you were there.
This video is a time capsule. It reminds us that SAA’s legacy in music isn’t new. It’s part of who we’ve been since our founding in 1948. From those earliest years, music and performing arts have been core to how we teach, worship, and connect.
Today’s music program still carries that same energy. If you haven’t seen what’s happening now, it’s worth a look:
Every year adds new names to the list of SAA music alumni, and each of them carries a piece of that tradition forward.
Come see yourself again. Come remember that trip. And if you’re an alumni from another year, this video reminds all of us what’s always made SAA special: the people, the purpose, and the harmony we create together.
Bottom Line: The 2006 High School Music Tour wasn’t a one-off. It was one chapter in a long story. Sacramento Adventist Academy has been building musicians, leaders, and lifelong friends for decades. That video just happens to show one of the most epic weeks on record.
And now, you can watch it again.
