At Sacramento Adventist Academy, the Fall Week of Prayer is a special time of reflection and spiritual growth. This year, the theme was “Who You Are,” which encouraged us to think deeply about our identity in Christ. Pastor Kevin Galeano from the Oceanside Seventh-day Adventist Church delivered a powerful message that helped us see how the way we view ourselves is connected to how we see God. Understanding “Who You Are” in Christ isn’t just about knowing facts—it’s about letting that truth change the way we live.
Key Point | What It Means |
---|---|
Who You Are in Christ | Pastor Kevin emphasized that understanding how God sees us helps us build confidence and understand our true identity. |
How You See Yourself Matters | How you think about yourself affects your choices and the way you impact others. |
1 Timothy 4:12-13 | This verse reminds us to set a good example and live out our faith, showing that how we see ourselves now affects our future. |
Pastor Kevin reminded us that we spend a lot of time hearing about how God sees us—His love for us, His plans for us, and how important we are in His eyes. But it can be hard to really believe this in our hearts. Instead, how we view ourselves often reflects how we understand God. Pastor Kevin encouraged the students to get to know God better, because when we understand who God is, we can better understand who we are in Him. It’s all about seeing ourselves the way God sees us.
In a world where people’s opinions often shape how we see ourselves, understanding our identity in Christ gives us confidence and direction. Pastor Kevin challenged the students to ask themselves some important questions: Who do I want to be? What kind of person do I want to become? And most importantly, who has God created me to be? Answering these questions can help guide the choices we make and help us become the person God has called us to be.
The verse 1 Timothy 4:12-13 was also highlighted as an important part of the week. It reminds us that when we understand who we are in Christ, we can live out the qualities that reflect Christ’s love and teachings in all areas of our lives. Living as an example of faith, love, and purity isn’t just about doing good things—it’s about showing who we truly are in Christ.
To wrap it up, the “Who You Are” theme during Fall Week of Prayer was a powerful reminder that our true identity comes from God. It was a time for students and staff alike to reflect on who we are in Christ, grow spiritually, and understand the unique purpose God has for each of us. When we fully embrace who we are in Christ, we can live with confidence and clarity, knowing that our identity in Him is what matters most.
