Carmichael, CA – SAA is thrilled to announce that Tammy Turk has been selected as the 2025 AAMP Teacher of the Year by the Adventist Association of Movement Professionals (AAMP). Recognized for her dedication to student wellness, innovative movement education, and commitment to whole-person learning, Tammy will be honored at the AAMP Annual Convention on March 31, held at the North American Division Headquarters in Columbia, Maryland.

For years, Tammy has been more than a teacher—she has been a mentor, coach, and role model, inspiring students to see movement as a path to both personal growth and community connection. Her classes extend beyond physical activity, emphasizing the importance of perseverance, teamwork, and self-discipline. Whether guiding a student through a fitness challenge or helping a team rally after a tough loss, she encourages effort over outcome and the pursuit of continuous improvement—principles that serve her students well beyond their time at SAA.
Her approach to physical education is rooted in balance—not just the kind that keeps students steady on a balance beam, but the kind that fosters mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being alongside physical health. Tammy has helped her students understand that caring for their bodies is just as important as strengthening their minds and hearts, integrating lessons in health, resilience, and faith into every aspect of her teaching.
